7 arrested over alleged murder of ‘Jirapa Dubai’ CEO

Seven people have so far been arrested at Jirapa in the Upper West Region, in connection with the alleged murder of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Royal Cosy Hills Hotel, Mr Eric Johnson, at the facility on Sunday.

According to a statement released by the Ghana Police Ser­vice on its official twitter handle, Kumbata Kwaku was initially detained to assist the police with investigation after the Regional Crime Scene Management Team visited the scene of the incident.

Updated police statements indicated that four more sus­pects whose name were given as Dookuuri Fausta, Braimah Kasim, Beyuo Felix and Michael Klugey, all workers at the hotel, were nabbed Sunday evening.

The other two suspects, who were identified as Favour Nuobe and Charles Tuoze, also staff of the Royal Cosy Hills Hotel, which has been nicknamed ‘Jirapa Dubai,’ were arrested on Monday morning for investigation.

According to the statement, all seven suspects are in the custody of the Regional Police Command in Wa.

The Ghana Police Service, said the CEO was found lying in a pool of blood in one of the hotel rooms on Sunday.

The Inspector General of Po­lice, Dr George Akuffo Dampare, is reported to have deployed a team of investigators and experts led by the Director-General, Criminal Investigation Depart­ment, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Faustina Agye­

 iwaa Kodua Andoh, to assist the Regional Police Command to uncover the perpetrators of the crime.

The news of Mr John­son’s untimely demise has left the community in a state of shock and mourning.

The Jirapa Dubai, which was started by Mr Johnson, has a resort and 4 kilome­ters Safari Park with various kinds of animals such as lions, Zebras and hippopotamus, and birds, in­cluding ostriches and an artificial lake with fishes, aqua activities or games (Jet Ski).

 Johnson revealed, he built the safari resort in Jirapa to help create employment opportunities in the area and also to help open the area to tourists, to help boost the local economy.
